Dance of recruits tradition and factors threatening it

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá tradicí slováckého verbuňku a faktory, jež tuto tradici mohou negativně ohrožovat, spolu se širším zaměřením na oblast tradiční lidové kultury. Kromě teoretických základů, práce blíže představuje dva folklorní soubory ze Strážnického Dolňácka, jeden větší Soubor lidových písní a tanců Žerotín ze Strážnice a jeden menší Soubor Petrovjan z Petrova. Cílem práce je tyto soubory blíže analyzovat a na základě rozhovorů se zainteresovanými osobami a zjištěných informací definovat, jaké problémy mohou v současnosti folklorní tradici ohrozit. Mezi negativní faktory patří vše od financování souborů přes kvalitu výroby kroje, komercializaci lidové kultury až po problémy se ztrátou autentičnosti.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the tradition of dance of recruits and factors that can negatively influence this tradition and it is also focused on the area of traditional folk culture. Apart from the theoretical background, the thesis closely introduces two folk ensembles from the area of Strážnické Dolňácko – one big and one small – Žerotín from the town of Strážnice and Petrovjan from Petrov. The aim of the thesis is to take a closer look at these two ensembles, interview people that are interested in this field, and specifically these two ensembles, and based on these interviews, define problems that could negatively affect this tradition. Negative factors include the financing of the ensembles, quality of folk costumes, commercialization of the folk culture, and, last but not least, the loss of authenticity.
