Aesthetic Rendition of Space Filling Curves

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je vytvořit schéma popisující křivky vyplňující prostor a rozšířit jej tak, aby bylo možné uživatelskou interakcí měnit jejich strukturu a vytvářet nové typy těchto křivek. V práci je zaveden pojem estetických křivek vyplňujících prostor. Kromě popisu současných metod stylizace obrazu pomocí křivek vyplňujících prostor, mezi které patří polotónování a konstrukce víceúrovňové křivky, práce obsahuje modifikace stávajících algoritmů a tím umožňuje jejich aplikaci na vytvořené schéma. Rovněž jsou popsány sou-visející navržené techniky analýzy estetických křivek vyplňujících prostor. V práci jsou využity přístupy z oblasti digitálního zpracování obrazu, matematické morfologie a gra-fových algoritmů. Vytvořené schéma konstrukce křivek vyplňujících prostor je implemen-továno v podobě systému dvou aplikací, který umožňuje interaktivní tvorbu estetických křivek vyplňujících prostor a jejich využití při stylizaci digitálního obrazu.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to form a pattern describing the space-filling curves and extend it in order to allow modifying their structure by user interaction and creating new variants of these curves. The concept of aesthetical space-filling curves is introduced in the thesis. Besides description of contemporary space-filling curves based image stylization methods, including halftoning and multi-level curve construction, the thesis includes modifications of these methods, enabling their application to the formed pattern. Related aesthetical space-filling curves analysis techniques are also described. In the thesis, there are used approaches from areas of digital image processing, mathematical morphology and graph algorithms. The designed pattern of space-filling curve construction is implemented in a system of two applications, which facilitate interactive creation of aesthetical space-filling curves and their use for digital image stylization.
