Trade and Investment Perspectives between European Union and Ukraine

Abstract:

Obchodní vztahy EU-Ukrajina jsou důležité pro obě strany: pro EU je to nový trh s obrovským rozsahem a potenciálem pracovních sil, pro Ukrajinu je to příležitost modernizovat ekonomiku v krátkém časovém období. Do současné doby se obchodní a investiční vztahy nevyvíjely v souladu s jejich potenciálem. V práci jsou analyzovány stávající obchodní a investiční toky mezi EU a Ukrajinou, je vytypován klíčový průmysl a partneři. Zároveň je analyzován dopad budoucí dohody o volném obchodu mezi EU a Ukrajinou, a to na obou stranách obecně a specificky v klíčových odvětvích. Výsledkem je doporučení zintenzivnit ekonomickou spolupráci EU-Ukrajina.

Abstract:

EU-Ukraine trade relations are important for both parties: for the EU it is a new market with huge land and labor potential, for Ukraine it is a short-term perspective to modernize it's economy. For now the trade and investment relations are not developed as they can be, in this work we analyze the current trade and investment flows between EU and Ukraine, determine the key partners and industries. In order to bring the relations to the new level, we analyze the possible impact of Free Trade Agreement on the both sides in general and more specifically regarding key industries. The result is the recommendation to continue EU-Ukraine integration, especially in terms of economical cooperation.
