Causes of conflict in Mali: environmental deprivation versus resource wealth

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je představit příčiny konfliktu v Mali z perspektivy degradace životního prostředí. Představí vlivy koloniální nadvlády, tuarežskou krizi spolu s důvody vzniku křivd. Hlavní částí je náhled na vznik konfliktu skrze téma environmentální deprivace a komparace tlaků působících na sociální neklid. V poslední části je čtenář uveden do systému aktérů a příčin vzniku současného konfliktu ve všech jeho aspektech.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the cause sof conflict in Mali, especially from the perspective of environmental degradation. The work presents the impact of colonial rule, the Tuareg crisis together withthe reasons for the grievance. The main section is an insight into the conflict through the topic of environmental deprivation and the comparison of pressures influencing social unrest. In the last section, the reader is introduced to the system of actors and causes creating the current conflict in all its aspects.
