Abstract:

Abstrakt: Tato práce se zabývá prezentací nepřímé řeči ve třech vybraných lingvistických manuálech a ve dvou vybraných učebnicích angličtiny (úroveň B2). Práce se skládá z části teoretické a empirické. Teoretická část stručně pojednává o pravidlech užívání nepřímé řeči (a to vět s různou ilokuční sílou) a vysvětluje, v jakých případech k posunům časů a deiktických výrazů docházet může a v kterých případech je změna nutná. Součástí teoretického úvodu je i krátký vhled do užívání nepřímé řeči v češtině. Dále se práce zaměřuje na to, jak je tato problematika vysvětlena (a do jaké míry zjednodušena) ve vybrané učebnici (úroveň B2). Těžištěm práce je vlastní výzkum provedený na vzorku studentů se středně pokročilou úrovní angličtiny (B2). V rámci tohoto výzkumu byly vypracovány dva typy aktivit, v nichž bylo otestováno zvládnutí dané gramatické oblasti. První aktivita je realizována formou řízeného cvičení, v nichž studenti prokazovali znalosti v oblasti užívání nepřímé řeči. Druhá aktivita poté navozuje užití nepřímé řeči bez explicitní instrukce lektora. Všechny výstupy studentů jsou v této práci porovnány a chyby, jichž se v řízeném cvičení i v méně řízené aktivitě studenti dopouštěli, popsány. Na závěr této práce jsou jednotlivé chyby, kterých se studenti dopustili, vysvětleny, a to na základě teoretických poznatků. Následně je provedeno vyhodnocení, zda dané učebnice, se kterými studenti pracují, efektivně přistupují k řešení těchto chyb v této oblasti. Součástí tohoto závěru jsou doporučení pro učitele týkající se výuky problematických částí tohoto gramatického jevu.

Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the presentation of indirect speech in three linguistic manuals and in two chosen English books (level B2). The thesis is divided into 2 parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part of the thesis describes rules of the use of indirect speech (clauses with a different illocutionary power) and explains cases where the backshift of tenses and deictic expressions are necessary or not. As a part of the theoretical introduction there is a short insight into the use of indirect speech in Czech language. Thereafter the thesis provides the explanations of how this area of grammar is presented in the selected books. The principal focus of the thesis is put on the analysis of students errors made by a sample of students whose level of English is B2. Two types of activities have been prepared in which the students are tested. The first activity is realized by a controlled exercise, in which the students prove their knowledge of the use of indirect speech. The second activity evokes the use of indirect speech without an explicit instruction of a tutor. All the outputs of the students are compared and errors made by students in the less controlled exercise are analysed. Finally, all the errors made by students are explained on the basis of the theoretical knowledge. Afterwards there is an evaluation of the textbooks that are used by the students if the textbooks deal with potential problems of this grammar effectively. Some recommendations regarding teaching some problematic parts of this grammar are involved in the final part.
