Selected Armed Conflicts in Africa

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o vybraných ozbrojených konfliktech v Africe. V teoretické části se stručně zaměří na vymezení pojmu konflikt, dále pak na bezpečnostní hrozby v Africe, včetně rolí některých mezinárodních organizací při řešení ozbrojených konfliktů. V následujících kapitolách je věnována pozornost příčinám, průběhu a důsledkům konfliktů v Mali a Rwandě. Hlavním cílem práce je analýza konfliktů ve dvou vybraných zemích, konkrétně ve Rwandě a v Mali, jejich následná komparace a navrhovaná možná řešení. Jedná se o komparativní případovou studii. V dílčích závěrech vybraných kapitol jsou vyhodnoceny získané informace a poznatky v rámci rešerše dostupné odborné literatury, následně je provedena komparace a je odpovězeno na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with selected armed conflicts in Africa. In the theoretical part, it briefly focuses on the definition of the term conflict, then on security threats in Africa, including the roles of some international organizations in resolving armed conflicts. The following chapters focus on the causes, course, and consequences of the conflicts in Mali and Rwanda. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the conflicts in the two selected countries, namely Rwanda and Mali, and then to compare them and suggest possible solutions. It is a comparative case study. In the partial conclusions of the selected chapters, the information and knowledge obtained in the search of the available literature is evaluated, followed by a comparison and answers to the research questions.
