Emotional intelligence and motivation for volunteering

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na téma dobrovolnictví, motivace a emoční inteligence. Teoretická část uvádí zásadní poznatky těchto tří témat. Kapitola věnovaná dobrovolnictví pojednává o charakteristikách dobrovolníků, oblastech, v nichž se dobrovolníci angažují, a o vývoji dobrovolnictví v České republice. Kapitola o motivaci představuje tento pojem a dále se zabývá sociální motivací a zejména motivy dobrovolnické činnosti. Poslední pasáž vymezuje chápání emoční inteligence, seznamuje s jejími nejznámějšími teoretickými koncepcemi, vymezuje emoční inteligenci vůči inteligenci rozumové a objasňuje úlohu emoční inteligence u dobrovolníků. Ve výzkumné části byly zjišťovány motivy dobrovolníků a úroveň emoční inteligence u dobrovolníků s cílem vysledovat, zda mezi emoční inteligencí a alespoň částí motivů dobrovolnické činnosti existuje pozitivní vztah.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on these topics: volunteering, motivation and emotional intelligence. Theoretical part describes the basic facts and knowledge of these three topics. The volunteering chapter discusses the characteristics of volunteers and areas in which volunteers are involved. Furthermore in this chapter, there is mentioned development of volunteering in the Czech Republic as well. Next chapter concerns with motivation, which is described in the concept of these three topics. The social motivation and motives of volunteering are discussed there as well. Last part defines the understanding of emotional intelligence, introduces its best-known theoretical concepts and defines emotional intelligence in connection with intellectual intelligence. In the last part, there is clarified the role of emotional intelligence of volunteers. In the research part, there are detected motives of volunteering and the level of emotional intelligence of volunteers. Furthermore, an question whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and motives of volunteering is discussed.
