Narratives of Suffering by Karel Makoň: Formation of Identity and Trust

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá narativní konstrukcí identity a nauky po prožitém utrpení u Karla Makoně, který artikuluje svoji nauku jako nauku mystickou. Pomocí narativní analýzy bylo zjišťováno, jakou roli přisuzoval Karel Makoň utrpení, jaký význam dával konkrétním událostem, které s utrpením souvisely a jak s utrpením následně zacházel při konstruování nauky, kterou šířil mezi své žáky a přátele. Zážitky z raného dětství, které souvisely s četnými operacemi ramene, jež byly prováděny za plného vědomí a také pobyt v koncentračním táboře, se významným způsobem podepsaly na formování Makoňovy mystické identity a nauky. Zážitky spojené s utrpením dával Makoň do souvislostí se svým subjektivním výkladem náboženských a filozoficko-náboženských spisů, zejména těch, které se týkaly jógy a křesťanského mysticismu, čímž konstruoval svoji identitu duchovního učitele.

Abstract:

This bachelor work deals with the narrative construction of identity and doctrine after the suffering of Karel Makoň, who articulates his teaching as a mystical doctrine. With the help of narrative analysis, it was ascertained what role did Makoň attribute to the suffering, what significance did he give to the particular events related to the suffering, and how did he subsequently handle the suffering in constructing the doctrine that he shared among his disciples and friends. Early childhood experiences, which were related to the numerous shoulder operations performed in full consciousness and also experiences from a concentration camp, significantly contributed to the formation of Makoň's mystical identity and doctrine. Makoň put the experiences of suffering into context with his subjective interpretation of religious and philosophical-religious writings, especially those concerning yoga and Christian mysticism, thus he constructing his identity as a spiritual teacher.
