Degree of independence of British overseas territories – case study of Anguilla and Turkas and Caicos

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce "Míra závislosti britských zámořských území - případová studie Anguilly a Turks a Caicos" je analýza současné situace ve vybraných územích. Práce bude uvedena nedávnou korupční aférou a jejími následky na Turks a Caicos. Studentka bude dále zkoumat míru závislosti vybraných území. Zaměří se na vliv Velké Británie na státní zprávu obou území, bude zkoumat důležité oblasti spolupráce, (ne)možnost vstupovat do mezinárodních organizací. V poslední kapitole se bude věnovat snahám obou území o získání samostatnosti. Cílem práce bude potvrdit nebo vyvrátit tvrzení: "Velká Británie poskytuje závislým územím dostatečnou autonomii a v případě zájmu území o samostatnost mu poskytuje potřebnou pomoc."

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis called "Degree of independence of British overseas territories – case study of Anguilla and Turkas and Caicos" is to analyze contemporary situation in Anguilla and in Turks and Caicos Islands. The thesis will be opened with recent corruption scandal in Turks and Caicos Islands and its consequences. The author will examine degree of independence of selected territories. The author will focuse on an influence of Great Britain over the government of boath territories. She will look about some important areas of cooperation and she will examine (im)possibility of partnership in International Organizations. In the last chapter the author will deal with aspirations of the territories to become independent. The aim of this thesis will be to confirm or disconfirm a predication: "The Great Britain provides sufficient independence to its overseas territories and the Great Britain helps them to become independent in the case the territories wish to be independent."
