Abstract:

BELLOVÁ, Hana. Evoluce ve způsobech přesvědčování: Diskurzní analýza vzorkových projevů amerických prezidentů v letech 1833-1997: bakalářská práce. Brno: Masarykova Univerzita, Pedagogická fakulta, Katedra anglického jazyka a literatury, 2010. 69 stran. Vedoucí bakalářské práce: Mgr. Martin Adam PhD. Tato bakalářská práce poskytuje diskurzivní analýzu šesti inauguračních projevů amerických prezidentů v letech 1833-1997. Způsoby přesvědčování jsou identifikovány a vyhodnoceny na základě výsledků diskurzní analýzy. Poté je vyvozen závěr, zdali se způsoby přesvědčování ve vymezeném čase změnily či ne. V teoretické části jsou podrobně vysvětleny pojmy týkající se diskurzní analýzy, jejich úrovní a metod, které budou používány. Konkrétně je popsána grafická, fonetická, lexikologická, stylistická, diskurzivní a pragmatická úroveň, ale i historie rétoriky a inauguračních projevů. Praktická část této práce je zaměřena na analýzu všech šesti projevů, za použití úrovní a metod, které jsou popsány v teoretické části. Informace získané analýzou projevů jsou často ilustrovány grafy a tabulkami, které se tak snaží přibliížit nejdůležitější výsledky. Cílem výzkumu je nalézt a analyzovat konkrétní způsoby přesvědčování v projevech a posoudit, zdali se nějakým způsobem v období 1833-1997 změnily

BELLOVÁ, Hana. “The Evolution of Means of Persuasion: Discourse Analysis of Sample Inaugural Speeches of US Presidents, 1833-1997”: Bachelor Thesis. Brno: Masaryk University, Faculty of Education, English Language and Literature Department, 2010. 69 pp. Supervisor: Mgr. Martin Adam Ph.D. This bachelor thesis provides a discourse analysis of six inaugural speeches of U.S. presidents between the years 1833-1997. Based on the findings from the discourse analysis, the means of persuasion are located and evaluated. It is then determined whether or not the language of persuasion has evolved over time. In the theoretical part, the discourse analysis and all its levels and methods are described in detail. Specifically, graphical, phonetic, lexical, stylistic, discourse and pragmatic levels are explained, as well as the history of rhetoric and inaugural speeches. In the practical part of the thesis all six discourses are analyzed, using levels and methods as described in the theoretical part. The information from the speeches is often illustrated by charts and tables that illuminate the most important results. The aim of the thesis is to find and analyze means of persuasion in the speeches and determine whether and how they have changed during the period 1833-1997.
