Diversity Management - Trends and Utilization in Czech Corporate Setting

Abstract:

Předložená disertační práce se zabývá konceptem diversity managementu a jeho aplikací v podnikovém prostředí České republiky. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny základní pojmy a je zde zachycen vývoj konceptu diversity management a jeho teoretického nazírání. Dále je diversity management zmíněn jako součást širších konceptů a pozornost je věnována také účinkům diverzity a jejího řízení v podnikové oblasti s důrazem na podnikovou výkonnost. Závěr teoretické části je věnován implementaci diversity managementu v podnicích. Empirická část práce je uvedena přehledem o stavu diverzity na pracovním trhu v České republice, z čehož vycházejí další analýzy. Pro lepší představu o vnímání diversity managementu v České republice zahrnuje disertační práce také kapitolu prezentující výsledky dotazníkového šetření mezi potenciálními budoucími manažery, kteří vyjádřili svůj názor a míru povědomí o otázkách diverzity a jejího řízení a o diskriminaci na trhu práce v České republice. Stěžejním bodem disertační práce je výzkum autorky, který využívá dotazníkového šetření v podnicích s působností v České republice a objasňuje způsob a míru využití diversity managementu ve výběrovém vzorku dotázaných organizací. K detailnějšímu pohledu na aplikaci diversity managementu v České republice přispívá kvalitativní výzkum autorky realizovaný metodou případových studií (příkladů dobré praxe), který prezentuje příklady úspěšného využívání diversity managementu v pěti různých organizacích a shrnuje charakteristické rysy, které se v těchto vybraných příkladech objevily. Ze závěrů práce vyplývají doporučení pro praktickou implementaci diversity managementu v českých podmínkách.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis deals with the concept of diversity management and its utilization in Czech corporate setting. In the theoretical part, there are presented the basic terms, the development of concept of diversity management and its theoretical perception. Diversity management is further described as a part of several complex concepts. Attention is also payed to effects of diversity and its managing in organizations with a special emphasis on issue of company performance. Finally, there is described the topic of diversity management implementation process in organizations. The empirical part is opened with the overview of the situation of diversity on labour market in the Czech Republic. This synthesis is then used in further analysis. Dissertation thesis includes also a chapter presenting the main outputs from author's questionnaire survey among future potential managers. Respondents expressed their opinion on the issue of diversity and its managing and on discrimination problems on labour market in the Czech Republic. The crucial point of dissertation thesis is the author's research, which is conducted through the questionnaire survey among organizations operating in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research is to explain the way and the rate of utilization of diversity management among questioned organizations. Furthermore, qualitative research was conducted via case study method (the best practices) in order to give more detailed view on diversity management utilization in the Czech Republic. The best practices present several successful utilization of diversity management in five different organizations and summarize the distinctive features which appeared within these examples. The conclusion of dissertation thesis shows some practical recommendations for implementation of diversity management in Czech corporate setting.
