Relations between Russia and Finland in the Arctic security context

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou měnících se rusko-finských vztahů v kontextu arktické bezpečnosti. Práce si dává za cíl hluboce porozumět tématu těchto vztahů a jejich vlivu na bezpečnost v arktickém regionu, téma vhodně analyzovat a interpretovat. V rámci práce, která se zabývá nejen základní teoretickou rovinou geopolitiky a sektorovým členěním bezpečnosti, ale také pozicí Arktidy v základu soudobé bezpečnosti a komplexním kvalitativním výzkumem rusko-finských vztahů a jejich vlivu na bezpečnost v arktickém regionu, byly stanoveny a zodpovězeny výzkumné otázky, které s problematikou souvisejí. Snahou práce je rovněž upozornit na dynamiku měnícího se bezpečnostního prostředí Arktidy, v němž se Rusko s Finskem stávají významnými geopolitickými aktéry, a formou diskuze na samém konci práce upozornit na úskalí s tímto tématem spojené.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the changing relations between Russia and Finland in the context of Arctic security. The thesis intends to deeply understand the topic of these relations and their impact on security in the Arctic region, and to analyze and interpret the topic in a suitable way. In the framework of the thesis, which covers not only the basic theoretical level of geopolitics and the sectoral division of security, but also the position of the Arctic in the basis of contemporary security and a comprehensive qualitative research of Russian-Finnish relations and their impact on security in the Arctic region, research questions related to the issue have been identified and answered. The thesis also seeks to draw attention to the dynamics of the changing security environment in the Arctic, in which Russia and Finland are becoming relevant geopolitical actors, and, through a discussion at the very end, to highlight the challenges associated with this topic.
