Helpful factors in gestalt therapy - client's perspective after the successful therapy of depression

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá pohledem klientů na absolvovanou úspěšnou gestalt terapii deprese. Cílem práce byla úprava seznamu kategorií subjektivních účinných faktorů terapie (Levitt a kol., 2006) pro užší kontext úspěšné gestalt terapie deprese. Šest klientů napsalo příběh o své terapii, získaná data byla analyzována prostřednictvím obsahové analýzy. Teoretická část práce nejdříve popisuje základní podstatu, formy a subjektivní prožitky depresivních potíží. Blíže je pak rozebrán gestalt terapeutický přístup k depresi včetně obecnějších principů gestalt terapie. Závěrem se teoretická část práce věnuje důležitým poznatkům z oblasti výzkumu zaměřeného na perspektivu klientů včetně podrobnějšího představení výzkumu Levitt a kol. Průběžně se práce zabývá limity výzkumu, především komplikací v podobě rekonstrukce vzpomínek na terapii, která nemusí odpovídat realitě. Empirická část práce poukazuje na podobnou strukturu získaných dat od klientů po úspěšné gestalt terapii a kategorizace subjektivních účinných faktorů terapie obecně. Zároveň dochází k závěru, že klienti po gestalt terapii reflektují nejen nespecifické faktory terapie, ale ve významné míře také faktory, odpovídající gestalt terapii.

Abstract:

The paper deals with client's view on passed successful gestalt therapy of depression. The aim of this study was an adaptation of the list of subjective helpful factors in psychotherapy (Levitt et al., 2006) for more specific context of a successful gestalt therapy of depression. Six clients wrote a story about their treatment, data were analyzed through content analysis. The theoretical part of the paper first describes the basic substance, forms and subjective experiences of depressive problems. More deeply is dismantled gestalt therapeutic approach to depression, including the general principles of gestalt therapy. Finally, the theoretical part of the study deals with important knowledge in the field of research aimed at the perspective of clients, including more detailed presentation of Levitt's research. Ongoing paper deals with the limits of this research, in particular with complications in the form of reconstruction of memories of the therapy, which may not correspond to reality. Empirical part of the study points to the similar structure of the data obtained from clients after successful gestalt therapy and categorization of subjective factors in psychotherapy in general. Withal it concludes that clients after gestalt therapy aren't reflecting only non-specific factors of therapy, but notably the factors corresponding to gestalt therapy too.
