General Psychological and Personality Relations of Dissociation

Abstract:

Předkládaná doktorská disertační práce se zabývá tématem obecně psychologických a osobnostních souvislostí disociace. Problematika je nahlédnuta v širších souvislostech a v souhrnu směřuje k základnímu teoretickému a částečně i empirickému přehledu dané oblasti. Práce je členěna na dva základní celky: teoretický a empirický. V teoretické části je podán základní přehled vývoje teoretických přístup k problematice disociace a jejího pojetí v rámci obecné psychologie a psychologie osobnosti. Zmíněna jsou také témata a oblasti, které s danými jevy organicky, logicky nebo historicky souvisejí. Jedná se pedevším o nejširší problematiku neurofyziologie, psychofyziologie, psychopatologie a etiopatogeneze duševních poruch. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována problematice vztahu disociace, vybraných psychických procesů, stavů a osobnostních charakteristik. V této souvislosti je podán přehled dosavadních hypotéz, empirických zjištění a teorií, které se touto oblastí zabývají. Konceptuální analýze jsou také podrobeny základní konstrukty, které se v souvislosti s disociací vyskytují nejčastěji. Jedná se o konstrukt disociace psychické, somatoformní a alexithymii. V závru teoretické části je také podán přehled základních metod zjišování a měření disociace v psychologii s důrazem na jejich kritické zhodnocení a analýzu možných metodologických problémů. Podrobnjší informace jsou uvedeny u nástrojů, které existují v českých mutacích. Empirická část je zaměřena na zmapování možných empirických souvislostí disociace a ověření některých teoretických předpokladů u vzorku neklinické populace (n=123). Důraz je kladen především na šíři sledovaných znaků, souvislostí a důkladnost statistického popisu. Empirická část dochází k obdobným závěrům jako některé teoretické předpoklady a hypotézy, ale odhaluje i doposud nepublikované vztahy. Kritické analýze jsou také podrobeny tři základní výše zmíněné konstrukty související s disociací. I v této oblasti byla shledána zjištění, která v souvislosti se současným stavem poznání problematiky vedou k novým pohledům. V závěru doktorské disertační práce jsou empirická zjištění a teoretická východiska podrobena diskusi, která vede k syntetizujícímu pohledu na celou problematiku a návrhu možného směřování dalšího výzkumu v dané oblasti.

Abstract:

The dissertation work is mainly focused on the theme of general psychological and personality aspects of dissociation. The topic is looked in broader consequences and is going to the basic theoretical and empirical mapping of the area. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part an overview of historical development is given. Following this historical data also modern theoretical approaches to dissociation and its conceptualization within the area of general psychology and psychology of personality. The theory is explained in the framework of interdisciplinary relations, with respect to psychopathology or psychophysiology. Special attention is paid to the questions of relations of dissociation and selected psychic processes, states and personality characteristics. Within this context outline of existing hypothesis, empirical findings and theories is given. Conceptual analysis on the basic constructs of dissociation psychic dissociation, somatoform dissociation and alexithymia is performed. In the conclusion of the theoretical part resumption of existing methods for measuring dissociation in psychology is presented. The main emphasize within is given to critical analysis of their methodological practical problems. Empirical part is focused on mapping of possible empirical relations of dissociation and examination of some of the theoretical presumptions in sample of nonclinical population (n=123). The accentuation is given to the range of monitored variables and relations and also to thoroughgoing statistical analysis. Empirical part confirms some of the hypothesis and conclusions the theoretical one and suggests some new connections that have not been published yet. Critical analysis of the three basic constructs of dissociation suggests interesting hypothesis regarding their relations and conceptual delimitation that may lead to new possibilities of their assumption. In the conclusion of the dissertation work empirical findings and theoretical basis are discussed and synthesizing insights to the studied questions and to proposals of further directions and advancements in the research of dissociation are suggested. The dissertation work represents a complex summarizing and analyzing the field of dissociation and dissociative phenomenons in general psychology and psychology of personality and partly in some other related fields on the theoretical and empirical level.
