Abstract:

Práce na téma Shakespeare a nadpřirozeno se zabývá způsobem, kterým William Shakespeare využívá nadpřirozené prvky ve svých hrách. Hlavní částí práce je analýza tří dvojic her. Tyto dvojice jsou tvořeny jednou Shakespearovou hrou a její "proti-hrou", tzn. dramatem, který je některými autory považován za jeden ze zdrojů příslušné Shakespearovy hry. Rozebírány jsou postupně anonymní True Tragedy of Richard III a Richard III (Shakespeare), Sejanus, His Fall (Jonson) a Julius Caesar (Shakespeare) a Cleopatra (Daniel) a Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare). U každé dvojice je posuzována relevance nadpřirozených prvků pro hru jako takovou i důležitost, které je těmto prvkům v příslušných hrách věnována. Cílem je poukázat na odlišné využití nadpřirozených prvků Shakespearem a druhým autorem. Součástí práce jsou také dvě úvodní kapitoly uvádějící sociální a literární pozadí alžbětinské doby s ohledem na nadpřirozeno.

Abstract:

The thesis Shakespeare’s Use of the Supernatural deals with the use of various supernatural features in selected Shakespeare’s plays. The core part of the thesis are three analyses of three pairs by Shakespeare and three plays by his contemporaries, selected based on their resemblance. Thus, gradually the True Tragedy of Richard III and Richard III (Shakespeare), Sejanus, His Fall (Jonson) and Julius Caesar (Shakespeare) and Cleopatra (Daniel) and Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare] are analysed. The objective of this thesis is to discuss the relevance and importance of natural features employed by the respective authors, in respect to the overall focus of the play. The thesis includes also two short introductory chapters on the socio-cultural and literary background of Elizabethan age in respect to the supernatural.
