Physiology of climbing plants

Abstract:

Climbing plants are an interesting species. For their life they require a growth support which they can climb around or cling to using special plant organs. Based on a number of characteristic features climbing plants are divided into lianas and vines. They form an essential part of forest ecosystems and they have a significant impact on their host plants. The difference between the climbing plants and plants, which grow solitarily, is not only in their way of life; there are certain differences in their anatomical and physiological features, as well. This literary based research includes some of the most important and already known findings on the physiology of climbing plants and on the anatomy of the plants’ organs and processes involved therein.

Abstract:

Popínavé rostliny jsou zajímavým rostlinným druhem. Ke svému životu vyžadují oporu, kolem níž se omotávají nebo se k ní přichytávají pomocí specializovaných orgánů. Podle několika znaků jsou popínavé rostliny rozdělené na liány a révy. Jsou podstatnou součástí lesních ekosystémů a výrazně ovlivňují své hostitelské rostliny. Od samostatně rostoucích rostlin se odlišují nejen způsobem života, ale také některými anatomickými a fyziologickými vlastnostmi. V této literární rešerši jsou shrnuté některé nejdůležitější dosud získané informace o fyziologii popínavých rostlin, anatomii rostlinných orgánů a procesech v nich probíhajících.
