Linguistic Features in Generic Stages of Match Reports

Abstract:

The main purpose of this work is to identify the significant linguistic features in generic stages of match reports. The theoretical part deals with a general definition of genre and generic structure and characterizes match report as a genre i.e. its purpose, authors, audience and placing among other genres. The practical part is dedicated to the analysis of 24 match reports, chosen from the Internet. In this part, the possible division of match reports into stages is presented. Each stage is described regarding its content and features. The description of the content is done with consideration of Van Dijk´s schema of news. After the discussion of the structure of match reports and their features in particular stages, there is a list of linguistic features occurring in all stages. The last section of the practical part deals with interpretation of results of the analysis and underlines the most essential linguistic characteristics of match reports.

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této práce je identifikovat význačné lingvistické rysy v žánrové struktuře reportáží z fotbalových zápasů. Teoretická část se zabývá obecnou definicí žánru a žánrové struktury a charakteristikou reportáže ze zápasu jakožto žánru, tzn. jejím účelem, autory, čtenáři a zařazením mezi ostatní žánry. V praktické části bylo 24 reportáží z internetu podrobeno analýze. Je zde nastíněna možná struktura těchto reportáží a každá část této struktury (tj. ?stage?) je popsána z hlediska svého obsahu a lingvistických rysů. Při popisu obsahu byl brán zřetel na Van Dijkovo schéma zpráv. Po prozkoumání struktury fotbalových reportáží a lingvistických rysů v jednotlivých ?stages? následuje rozbor dalších lingvistických rysů, které jsou přítomny ve všech ?stages?. Poslední sekce praktické části je věnována interpretaci výsledků analýzy. Na závěr jsou zde vyzdviženy nejdůležitější jazykové rysy, jimiž lze charakterizovat reportáž z fotbalového zápasu.
