Prevention and treatment of cervicalgia: comparison between the use of DM2 Neck Balance System and the manual treatment.

Abstract:

The idea for this thesis project was born from the invitation of Professor Antonio Dal Monte and NBS Suisse presentation of DM2 Neck Balance System, the day Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at 19:00 at the Great Hall of the Regional Hospital of Lugano (Civic). DM2 is the most revolutionary method of treatment and prevention in the treatment of pain of the cervical spine. The neck pain is a very common disorder, mainly caused by disorders of the column in the cervico-dorsal or bad postures held for long periods. DM2 Neck Balance System is an innovative invention of Professor Dal Monte to fight cervical pain. DM2 Neck Balance System is a device that has the purpose of reducing and then dissolve gradually and in a simple manner painful muscular contractions, giving a quick feeling of relief. It is not a drug and exerts its action biomechanics without any collateral consequence. DM2 Neck Balance System is also effective for preventing cervical frequent that affect all those who professionally or maintained long sitting positions: computer, TV, car driving, and many sports. The center of gravity of the mass of the head presents itself disposed in front with respect to the balance point on the spine. This advanced center of gravity is counterbalanced by the action of the muscles of the neck, about twenty. The application of a weight behind your head, is opposed to bending the head forward and allows you to cancel the force exerted by the muscles of the neck. Paradoxically, with the application of a counterweight calibrated so as to completely cancel the tension of the muscles that balance the head on the cervical spine, instead of increasing the pressure decreases. With the use of the system relaxant we have, therefore, a reduction of the load imposed on the intervertebral discs, resulting in less risk of pain produced by irritation or compression of nerves that arise from the spinal column. The birth of this device is the result of biomechanical studies conducted by Prof. Antonio Dal Monte and validated through scientific research at the Department of Bioengineering at the Politecnico of Milan, the University of Udine and the University "Foro Italico" in Rome. Further studies are underway at other Universities. ?Prevenzione e trattamento delle cervicalgie: confronto tra l?utilizzo del DM2 Neck Balance System e il trattamento manuale? 5 Hence the idea of doing the thesis on cervical distinguishing two types of treatment: on the one hand, the treatment through the use of decontrattore muscle associated with massage therapy and other treatment through therapy alone by classical manual massage and cervical pompage. Often, in addition to the massage, the physiotherapist performs a call Pompage other therapy, which consists in the risers neck, maintain tension for at least 30 seconds and release very slowly. The effect of this technique is the increase in the intervertebral space, the patient will experience a pleasant relaxation and a feeling of lightness in the neck and head. The purpose of this thesis is to verify the effectiveness of the device DM2, associated with the manual treatment, both as regards the reduction of pain and increased well-being, both as regards the aspect of prevention.

L?idea per questo progetto di tesi č nata dall?invito del Professor Antonio Dal Monte e NBS Suisse alla presentazione di DM2 Neck Balance System, il giorno mercoledě 9 Ottobre 2013 alle ore 19.00 presso l?Aula Magna dell?Ospedale Regionale di Lugano (Civico). DM2 č il piů rivoluzionario metodo di cura e prevenzione nel trattamento della sintomatologia dolorosa del tratto cervicale. I dolori cervicali sono un disturbo molto diffuso, causati principalmente da patologie della colonna nel tratto cervico-dorsale o da cattive posizioni mantenute a lungo. DM2 Neck Balance System č l?innovativa invenzione del Prof. Dal Monte per combattere i dolori cervicali. DM2 Neck Balance System č un dispositivo che ha lo scopo di ridurre e quindi dissolvere progressivamente ed in maniera semplice le contratture muscolari dolorose, dando una rapida sensazione di sollievo. Non č un farmaco ed esplica la sua azione biomeccanica senza nessuna conseguenza collaterale. DM2 Neck Balance System č efficace anche per prevenire le frequenti cervicalgie che colpiscono tutti coloro che professionalmente o per scelta mantengono posizioni sedute a lungo: computer, TV, guida auto e molti sport. Il baricentro della massa della testa si presenta disposto anteriormente rispetto al punto di bilanciamento sulla colonna vertebrale. Questo baricentro avanzato, viene controbilanciato dall?azione dei muscoli del collo, circa una ventina. L?applicazione di un peso dietro la nuca, si oppone alla flessione del capo in avanti e consente di annullare lo sforzo esercitato dai muscoli del collo. Paradossalmente, con l?applicazione di un contrappeso tarato in modo da annullare totalmente la tensione dei muscoli che bilanciano la testa sulla colonna vertebrale cervicale, la pressione invece di aumentare diminuisce. Con l?impiego del sistema decontratturante si ha, quindi, una riduzione del carico che grava sui dischi intervertebrali, con conseguente minore rischio di dolori prodotti da irritazione o compressione dei nervi che si originano dalla colonna vertebrale. La nascita di questo dispositivo č frutto di studi di biomeccanica condotti dal Prof. Antonio Dal Monte e validati attraverso ricerca scientifica presso il dipartimento di Bioingegneria del Politecnico di Milano, l?universitŕ di Udine e l?Universitŕ ?Foro Italico? di Roma. Ulteriori studi sono i corso presso altri Istituti Universitari. ?Prevenzione e trattamento delle cervicalgie: confronto tra l?utilizzo del DM2 Neck Balance System e il trattamento manuale? 3 Da qui l?idea di fare la tesi sulla cervicalgia distinguendo due tipi di trattamento: da un lato il trattamento attraverso l'utilizzo del decontrattore muscolare associato alla massoterapia e dall?altro il trattamento attraverso la sola terapia classica manuale tramite massaggio e pompage cervicale. Spesso, oltre al massaggio, il fisioterapista esegue un altra terapia chiamata Pompage, che consiste nel trazionare il collo, mantenere la tensione per almeno 30 secondi e rilasciare molto lentamente. L?effetto di questa tecnica č l?aumento dello spazio intervertebrale, il paziente avverte un piacevole rilassamento e una sensazione di leggerezza a livello del collo e della testa. Lo scopo di questa tesi sperimentale č di verificare l?efficacia del dispositivo DM2, associato al trattamento manuale, sia per quanto concerne la riduzione del dolore e l?aumento del benessere, sia per quanto riguarda l?aspetto di prevenzione.
