Occupational Therapy in Children with Down Syndrome

Abstract:

Název práce: Ergoterapie u dětí s Downovým syndromem Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce je seznámení s diagnózou Downův syndrom a přispět k řešení problematiky vhodnými ergoterapeutickými metodami u této diagnózy. Metodika: Teoretická část komplexně shrnuje současné poznatky o dané diagnóze z pohledu etiopatogeneze, diagnostiky, typů onemocnění a specifiky ergoterapie u Downova syndromu prostřednictvím tuzemské i zahraniční literatury. Hlavní část obsahuje práci s klientem. Zaměřuje se na kazuistiku, ergoterapeutické vyšetření a průběhy terapie. V práci je stanoven krátkodobý a dlouhodobý plán. Výsledky: Zvolením vhodné terapie došlo ze zlepšení úchopových funkcí, jemné motoriky a kognitivních funkcí. Největších pokroků bylo docíleno v oblasti sebeobsluhy, a to především v personálních denních činnostech. Závěr: Vypracováním této bakalářské práce jsem získala znalosti týkající se diagnózy a uvědomila si nezbytnost ucelené rehabilitace ve spolupráci s rodinou u dětí s Downovým syndromem.

Abstract:

Name of thesis: Occupational Therapy in Children with Down Syndrome Target: The bachelor's thesis aims to acquaint with the diagnosis of Down syndrome and to contribute to solving the problem by appropriate occupational therapy methods in this diagnosis. Methodology: The theoretical part comprehensively summarizes the current knowledge about the diagnosis in terms of etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, types of diseases, and the specifics of occupational therapy for Down's syndrome through domestic and foreign literature. The main part focuses on work with the client. The emphasis is on case reports, occupational therapy examinations, and therapies. The work determines a short-term and long-term plan. Results: Gripping functions, fine motor skills and cognitive functions were improved by implementing the appropriate therapy. The most significant progress has been observed in the area of self-service, particularly in the area of daily personnel activities. Conclusion: Due to the elaboration of this bachelor's thesis, I acquired knowledge about the diagnosis and realized the need for comprehensive rehabilitation in collaboration with the family in children with Down syndrome.
