Horniny osídlující houby (RIF) jsou ekologická skupina mikroskopických hub vyskytujících se takřka po celém světě. Jejich morfologické a fyziologické adaptace jim pomáhají překonávat podmínky mrazivých pouští Antarktidy, ale také rozžhavené povrchy středomořských hornin a nacházet tak životní prostor i na místech, kde mnoho jiných organismů není schopno přežít. Abstract:
Rock-inhabiting fungi (RIF) are an ecological group of microscopic fungi found almost worldwide. Their morphological and physiological adaptations help them to overcome the freezing conditions of the Antarctic deserts as well as the heated surfaces of Mediterranean rocks, finding habitat in places where many other organisms are unable to survive.
