IPMA and PMI project management certifications – description and comparison

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá certifikacemi pro projektové řízení. Představuje dvě profesní organizace projektového řízení IPMA a PMI. Zabývá se jejich historií i rozšířením. Detailně popisuje certifikační programy, které organizace nabízejí projektovým manažerům. Každá certifikace je popsána z pohledu využití, přínosu pro projektové manažery a certifikačního procesu. Nechybí ani cenová stránka certifikačního procesu a požadované nároky na znalosti a dovednosti. Práce obsahuje i základní seznámení s metodikou, kterou používají obě organizace. Metodika je shrnuta do standardů projektového řízení PMBOK Guide a ICB (CzNCB). Jejich popis je v práci z důvodu rozsahu dokumentů omezen na vymezení základních pojmů a přiblížení struktury. Pro získání celkového nadhledu nad popisovanou problematikou je na závěr provedeno srovnání.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with project management certifications. Introduces two professional project management organizations of IPMA and PMI. It examines their history and expansion at the beginning. Describes in detail certification programs offered by the organization to project managers. Each certification is described from the perspective of usage, the benefits to project managers and the certification process. There is also a price page of the certification process and required demands for knowledge and skills. The thesis includes a basic introduction to the methodology used by both organizations. The methodology is summarized in the project management standards known as PMBOK Guide and ICB (CzNCB). Their description is limited to defining the basic concepts and structure approach due to wide range of both documents. To obtain an overall insight of the issue a comparison is described at the end.
