Corporate social responsibility as a factor of choice of the employer

Abstract:

Cílem této magisterské práce bylo pochopit, jakou váhu má společenská odpovědnost firmy (dále SOF) při porovnávání jednotlivých nabídek a finální volbě uchazečů o práci. Rozsáhlá tematika společenské odpovědnosti firem byla rozpracována dle jednotlivých pilířů SOF i jako celek. Kromě toho byla problematika SOF zařazena do kontextu jiných faktorů, které pomáhají uchazečům o práci jednotlivé nabídky porovnat a učinit finální volbu. Metodologická část se věnuje pozadí výzkumu v podobě vysvětlení výzkumné metodiky a techniky sběru dat. Výzkumná část prezentuje výzkumná zjištění a jejich následnou interpretaci. V rámci kvalitativní výzkumné strategie byly provedeny hloubkové polostrukturované rozhovory, jejichž cílem bylo pochopit celý proces hledání práce, porovnávání nabídek a činění finální volby. Výsledkem těchto rozhovorů bylo zjištění, že SOF jako faktor rozhodování hraje roli spíše při procesu finální volby než při porovnávání nabídek. Velikost firmy a typ práce se ukázaly jako důležitější faktory rozhodování než společenská odpovědnost firem, plnily funkci prvního filtru. Společenská odpovědnost firem byla středně významným faktorem spíše ve fázi finálního rozhodnutí, přičemž každý její pilíř měl různou váhu. Nejmenší váhu měla ekologická odpovědnost firmy, ekonomická odpovědnost firmy byla vnímána naopak jako jádro.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to understand what significance corporate social responsibility (hereafter CSR) has for candidates, when they are comparing job offers and when making the final choice. A wide topic of corporate social responsibility has been developed by both the individual pillars of CSR and as a whole. In addition, issues of CSR was included in the context of other factors that help job seekers compare particular job offers and make the final choice. The methodological part is devoted to the research background in the form of explanation of the research methodology and data collection techniques. The research section presents the research findings and their subsequent interpretation. Within the qualitative research strategy, in-depth semi-structured interviews were made, their goal was to understand the entire job search process, comparing offers and making the final choice. The result of these interviews was the finding, that CSR as a deciding factor plays a role rather when making the final choice, than during the comparison of the different companies. Company size and type of work have emerged as more important factors during comparing phase than corporate social responsibility, they were functioning as the first filter. Corporate social responsibility was a moderately important factor in the phase of the final decision making, and each of its pillars had a different value. The smallest value was help by environmental corporate responsibility, while economic responsibility of the company was seen rather as a core.
