Comparison of the Arthurian legends between the original version by Malory and modern adaptation by BBC
Abstract:
The master thesis aims to compare two adaptations of Arthurian legends. The comparison is between the book Le Morte d´Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory and the television series Merlin aired on the BBC One station between the years 2008 and 2012. The main focus is placed on the changes made when transforming the source material (Le Morte d´Arthur) to the modern adaptation (Merlin).
Abstract:
Cílem diplomové práce je srovnání artušovských legend ve dvou jejich zpracováních. Porovnána je kniha Le Morte d´Arthur od sira Thomase Maloryho se seriálem Merlin vysílaným na BBC One od roku 2008 do roku 2012. Hlavní zaměření je na změny provedené při převodu zdrojového materiálu (Le Morte d´Arthur) do moderního zpracování (Merlin).
