The Armenian genocide and its influence on current Armenian - Turkish relations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce za zabývá genocidou Arménů z roku 1915 a jejím vlivem na současné nejen arménsko-turecké vztahy. Genocida Arménů dodnes tvoří podstatnou část arménské i turecké historie. V této práci mapuji postupný vývoj arménsko-tureckých vztahů a velikost vlivu genocidy Arménů zejména na soudobý vztah mezi oběma zeměmi, a to od uvedení do funkce tureckého prezidenta Recepa Tayyipa Erdoğana v roce 2014 až po současnost. Zároveň jsou v bakalářské práci zahrnuty postoje některých mezinárodních aktérů – konkrétně Evropské unie, Spojených států amerických, Francie a České republiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the Armenian genocide of 1915 and its impact on current not only Armenian-Turkish relations. To this day, the Armenian genocide still forms a significant part of Armenian and Turkish history. In this work, I map the gradual development of Armenian-Turkish relations and the magnitude of the influence of the Armenian genocide, especially on the current relationship between the two countries, mainly from the inauguration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2014 to the present. At the same time, the bachelor's thesis includes the attitudes of some international actors – namely the European Union, the United States of America, France, and the Czech Republic.
