Abstract:

Franchising jako forma podnikání a růstové či expanzní strategie firmy je v posledních čtyřiceti letech významným prvkem světové ekonomiky. Konkurence v mezinárodním franchisingovém podnikání stoupá a na trhu se objevují stále nové franchisingové sítě. Předmětem této práce je strategie řízení a měření výkonnosti v mezinárodních franchisingových firmách. Řízení franchisingové sítě je komplexní záležitostí, jelikož v systému působí pod jednou značkou více podnikatelských subjektů, které jsou právně i finančně nezávislé. Přesto je v rámci franchisingové sítě úkolem franchisora komunikovat globálně jednotnou vizi a realizovat strategii, která zajistí dlouhodobé a úspěšné fungování celé sítě. Disertační práce si klade za cíl navrhnout metodiku pro implementaci strategie řízení a měření výkonnosti a analyzovat současné způsoby měření výkonnosti v mezinárodních franchisingových sítích. Za účelem dosažení cíle práce bylo provedeno empirické šetření mezi franchisingovými firmami působícími v Evropě. Jako metody sběru dat byly použity hloubkové rozhovory s 30 manažery franchisingových sítí a dotazníkové šetření v souboru 80 párů franchisorů a franchisantů. Data byla vyhodnocena prostřednictvím jednorozměrné i vícerozměrné statistické analýzy. Problematiku propojení vize, realizace strategie a měření výkonnosti velmi vhodně řeší jeden z moderních přístupů k měření výkonnosti podniku, metoda Balanced Scorecard. Metoda Balanced Scorecard je v této práci navržena jako vhodný nástroj využívající finančních i nefinančních ukazatelů k měření výkonnosti podniku v rámci čtyř hlavních perspektiv: perspektivy finanční, zákaznické, perspektivy interních procesů a perspektivy učení se a růstu. Autorka navrhuje pro potřeby mezinárodní franchisingové sítě doplnit metodu Balanced Scorecard o pátou perspektivu, perspektivu franchisanta, která vyzdvihuje jeho klíčovou roli pro výkonnost franchisingové sítě. V závěru práce jsou uvedena doporučení pro použití metody Balanced Scorecard v mezinárodní franchisingové firmě.

Abstract:

Franchising, as an entrepreneurial form and a growth or expansion strategy, has become a significant element of the global economy in last four decades. The competition in international franchising is increasing and franchising networks are emerging continuously. This dissertation deals with performance management and measurement strategies in international franchising companies. Management of franchising networks is a complex issue, as there are numerous entities acting in one system under one brand, which are legally and financially independent. Yet, it is the task of the franchisor to communicate one globally unified vision and execute strategy within the whole franchising network that would ensure its longterm and successful functioning. The dissertation aims at suggesting a methodology of performance management and measurement and conducting an analysis of performance measurement methods currently used in international franchising networks. In order to achieve the thesis objective, empirical research among franchisng companies in Europe was conducted. As for data collection methods, in-depth interviews with 30 managers of franchisng networks and research survey among 80 pairs of franchisor-franchisee respondents, were conducted. The issue of linking the vision, strategy execution and performance measurement is appropriately tackled by Balanced Scorecard method, a modern approach to performance measurement. The Balanced Scorecard method is suggested as an advisable tool that utilizes financial and non-financial indicators for measuring organizational peformance within the framework of four main perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes and learning and growth. The author proposes to add a fifth perpective into the original Balanced Scorecard method to be used in international franchising, the "franchisee perspective". This new perspective would highlight the key role of franchisees for the organizational performance of the franchising network. Recommendations for use of the Balanced Scorecard in international franchising are presented at the end of the thesis.
