Running kinematics of runner with a history of Achilles tendon rupture

Abstract:

Tématem mé diplomové práce byla případová studie zabývající se kinematikou pohybu rekreační běžkyně s historií ruptury Achillovy šlachy. Podstatou této práce bylo zjistit, zda u probandky, která utrpěla v roce 2008 rupturu a následnou rerupturu Achillovy šlachy, došlo po rekonvalescenci k obnovení funkce šlachy a jejímu návratu na původní úroveň. K diagnostice kinematiky pohybu jsem využila 3D kinematickou analýzu pohybu. Měření se podrobila rekreační běžkyně s historií ruptury Achillovy šlachy a jí odpovídající dvojnice bez zranění dolních končetin. S naměřenými výsledky jsem poté dále pracovala a zjišťovala odchylky v biomechanice běhu obou subjektů Z naměřených výsledků je patrné, že po dostatečné délce rekonvalescence nedošlo k návratu plné funkce Achillovy šlachy. I přes pozitivní subjektivní pocit probandky při běhu, dochází ke snížené pronaci ve stojné fázi běhu, vlivem zkrácené délky Achillovy šlachy a je tedy velká pravděpodobnost budoucího zranění. Důkazem zranění jsou rovněž silnější dorzální flexory, které jsou atypicky silnější u nedominantní nohy.

Abstract:

My thesis was a case study dealing of the kinematic motion recreational runner with history of the Achilles tendon rupture. The essence of this thesis was to determine whether subject who suffered in 2008 Achilles tendon rupture and after surgical operation and subsequent recovery to restore the function of the tendon and its return to the original level. For diagnose kinematics I used 3D kinematic motion analysis. Measurements was subjected recreational runner with a history of rupture of the Achilles tendon and the corresponding double without injuries of the lower extremities. With measured results I continue work and after further investigated variations in the biomechanics of running both entities. From measured results show that after a sufficient length of convalescence for recurrence wasn't comeback of the full function of the Achilles tendon. Despite the positive subjective feeling at runtime, is reduced pronation in the stance phase of running, the effect of shortening the length of the Achilles tendon and is therefore a strong likelihood of future injury.Evidence of injury are also stronger dorsal flexors, which are atypically stronger in the non-dominant leg.
