Using video for reconstruction of a 3D object by SFM method

Abstract:

V rámci svoji práce zkoumám možnosti využití videozáznamu objektu, pro vytvoření 3D modelu objektu za pomoc technologie SFM. Zkoumám negativní vlivy komprese videa a množství vstupních dat na výsledný 3D model objektu a porovnávám je s výsledky 3D modelů vzniklých z dat nezasažených ztrátovou kompresí vstupních dat. Zjistil jsem, že komprese je v případě SFM nevhodná, pro výsledný 3D model často devastující záležitostí. Při práci s nekomprimovanými daty je pak vhodné najít nejlepší poměr čas/kvalita. - S přibývajícím množstvím správně nasnímaných vstupních dat se kvalita výsledného 3D modelu zvyšuje, avšak stoupají nároky na počet výpočtů - tedy zpracování trvá o poznání déle.

Abstract:

As part of my work, I explore the possibilities of using a video recording of an object to create a 3D model of the object with the help of SFM technology. I investigate the negative effects of video compression and the amount of input data on the resulting 3D model of the object and compare them with the results of 3D models resulting from uncompressed input data. I found that compression is inappropriate in the case of SFM, often devastating for the resulting 3D model. When working with uncompressed data, it is advisable to find the best time/quality ratio. - With the increasing amount of correctly scanned, uncompressed input data, the quality of the resulting 3D model increases, but the demands on the number of calculations increase - then the processing takes much longer.
