Tendency to stigmatization mentally ill people by university students

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se věnuje problematice tendencí ke stigmatizaci duševně nemocných lidí ze strany vysokoškolských studentů. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a výzkumnou. Teoretická část se věnuje problematice stigmatu, stigmatizace, dělení stigmatizace, stigmatizace u duševně nemocných lidí, mýtů o duševních nemocech, stereotypů, předsudků, postojů a diskriminace. Výzkumná část je zaměřená na kvantitativní výzkum s využitím nestandardizovaných metod měření. Výzkum byl realizován na 1350 vysokoškolských studentech českých univerzit. Názory na duševní onemocnění a tendence ke stigmatizaci duševně nemocných lidí byly zjišťovány sestaveným dotazníkem pro tyto účely. Statistická analýza prokázala poměrně vysoké tendence stigmatizovat duševně nemocné lidi v závislosti na věku, pohlaví, studované univerzitě, oboru, fakultě, studijním zaměření, absolvování psychopatologických předmětů, léčbě pro duševní potíže, znalosti duševně nemocného člověka, názorech na duševní nemoci a osobnostních charakteristikách (neuroticismus, přívětivost).

Abstract:

This thesis is dedicated to the tendency to stigmatization mentally ill people by university students. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the stigma, stigmatization, division of stigmatization, stigmatization among mentally ill people, myths about mental illness, stereotypes, prejudices, attitudes and discrimination. The research part is focused on quantitative research using non-standardized measurement methods. The research was conducted on 1350 college students at Czech universities. Attitudes on mental illness and tendency to stigmatization mentally ill people were surveyed by questionnaire drawn up for this purpose. Statistical analysis showed a relatively high tendency to stigmatization mentally ill people, depending on age, gender, studied university, branch of study, faculty, academic focus, graduating psychopathological subjects, treatment for mental health issues, knowledge of a mentally ill person, attitudes to mental illness and personality characteristics (neuroticism, agreeableness).
