Terrorist attacks in civil aviation

Abstract:

Práce se skládá ze teoretické a praktické částí. Teoretická část seznamuje čtenáře s terorismem, jeho principy a cíli. Dále jsou popsána specifika teroristických útoků na letectví, přičemž jsou zde představeny možné scénáře útoků na jednotlivé podoblasti leteckého provozu včetně použitých zbraní, logistiky takových útoků a možnosti, jak jim zamezit. Na konci teoretické části práce je pak výkladový slovník, který pomůže čtenáři lépe se orientovat ve specifickém prostředí leteckého provozu a letecké bezpečnosti. V praktické části je čtenář velmi detailně obeznámen se třemi významnými teroristickými útoky (Air India 1985, Lockerbie 1988, 9/11 2001), s jejich vyšetřováním a závěry, ke kterým tato vyšetřování dospěla. Autorka dále vysvětluje, jak tyto útoky ovlivnily změny mezinárodní legislativy spojené s leteckou přepravou, předkládá analýzu změn a v závěru upozorňuje na nedostatky, chyby a prodlení, která mohou být v boji proti terorismu v letectví fatální.

Abstract:

The work consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part introduces the reader to terrorism, its principles and goals. Furthermore, the specifics of terrorist attacks on aviation are described, possible scenarios of attacks on individual areas of air traffic are presented here, including the weapons used, the logistics of such attacks and the possibility of preventing them. At the end of the theoretical part, there is an explanatory dictionary that will help the reader better navigate the specific environment of air traffic and air safety. In the practical part, the reader is familiarized in great detail with three significant terrorist attacks (Air India 1985, Lockerbie 1988, 9/11 2001), with their investigations and the conclusions reached by these investigations. The author further explains how these attacks influenced changes in international legislation related to air transport, presents an analysis of the changes and, in the end, draws attention to shortcomings, errors and delays that can be fatal in the fight against terrorism in aviation.
