The vocabulary relating to the migrant crisis in Spanish newspaper articles of El País and El Mundo

Abstract:

In the theoretical part, the bachelor thesis deals with the important role of newspapers as the carriers of information to the public, as well as with the characteristics of the journalistic and political language and its ability to influence public opinion, especially regarding the topic of migration. In the practical part, we compare the vocabulary of Spanish newspaper articles of El País and El Mundo relating to the migrant crisis of August 2015. Attention is paid mainly to the terms describing the migrants and to the differences in the use of the respective expressions.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se v teoretické části zabývá významnou rolí novin jakožto nositelů informací směrem k veřejnosti, charakterizuje žurnalistický a politický jazyk a jeho schopnost ovlivňovat veřejné mínění, a to zejména v souvislosti s tématem migrace. V praktické části je srovnána slovní zásoba článků španělských elektronických periodik El País a El Mundo týkajících se migrační krize v srpnu roku 2015. Pozornost je věnována především pojmům, které popisují migranty, a rozdílnostem jejich užití v obou sledovaných denících.
