Specifics in approaches to the speech development at children candidates for cochlear implant

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo shrnout dosavadní možnosti kompenzace sluchové vady, ale hlavním cílem byla snaha poukázat na poznatky rodin, které mají zkušenosti s implantací. Empirický výzkum se zabýval dětmi ve věku od narození po předškolní věk, a tím bylo dané, že otázky zodpovídali rodiče, kteří popisovali své subjektivní zkušenosti. Vše, co je v teoretické práci popsáno, bylo čerpáno z odborné literatury, popřípadě z internetových zdrojů. V praktické části práce byl použit kvalitativní výzkum, a data pro něj byla sbírána z případových studií, rozhovoru s otevřenými otázkami a z pozorování obou probandů. Otázky vycházely z témat, se kterými se každá z rodin musela nutně setkat. Dotazy se prolíná problematika psychického přijetí a vyrovnání, vztahů v rodině, komunikace s dítětem, následná rehabilitace. Z výzkumu vyplynula poměrně velká shoda mezi rodinami. V čem se rodiny výrazněji rozcházely, byla aktivní znalost znakového jazyka. Výzkum zároveň poukázal na častou neinformovanost o kochleárním implantátu mezi odbornými pracovníky, a to přímo v řadách lékařů z krajských a okresních nemocnic. Ať už šlo o nesprávnou identifikaci přístroje, anebo neznalost principu fungování implantátu. Následkem toho je, že pro implantované je obtížné hledat pomoc a informace u odborníků v místě bydliště. Součástí této práce je i příloha, která je vhodná jako návod, popřípadě pracovní sešit pro rodiče a dítě se sluchovou vadou.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to summarize existing possibilities of a compensation for hearing defects, but the main goal was to highlight the knowledge of families who have had experience with the implant. An empirical research has dealt with children aged from their birth to preschool age and that way it was given that questions were answered by their parents who described the subjective experience. Everything what have been described in the theoretical part of the thesis was drawn from the professional literature or from Internet sources. In the practical part there was applied a qualitative research, data for it were collected from case studies, interviews with open questions and from observations of both probands. Questions were based on topics which each family must have encountered. Issues of a psychological acceptance and coping, family relationships, a communication with the child and a subsequent rehabilitation were mingled in the queries. The research resulted in a relatively strong consensus between the families. The families differed more significantly in an active knowledge of the sign language. The research also pointed to a frequent lack of information about the cochlear implant among professionals, immediately concerning the ranks of physicians from regional and district hospitals. It resulted in an incorrect identification of the device or an ignorance of the principles of implant operation. The consequence is that it is difficult for implanted people to seek a help and information at professionals in their place of residence. An appendix, which is as well as a part of the thesis, is suitable as a guidebook or a workbook for parents and their child with the hearing defect.
