Foreign policy of microstates in Europe: Relations between the Czech Republic and Liechtenstein since 2009

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zahraniční politikou Lichtenštejnska a především jeho vztahů s Českou republikou po roce 2009. Českou republiku a Lichtenštejnsko pojí bohatá společná historie, jejich diplomatické vztahy však kvůli majetkovým sporům na určitou dobu ochladly. Práce pojednává o kontextu daného problém i o tom, jak v současnosti ovlivňuje vztahy obou zemí. Práce rovněž ukazuje, jakým způsobem se obě strany snaží daný problém vyřešit a rozvíjet vzájemnou spolupráci. Tato problematika a její dopady nejsou širší veřejnosti příliš známé a práce má za cíl je přiblížit. Práce je řešena podle teorie analýzy zahraniční politiky, jejímž obsahem má být rozbor tří významných prvků zahraniční politiky. Těmito prvky jsou aktéři zahraniční politiky, otázky, jimiž se zajímají a jejich zájmy.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the foreign policy of Liechtenstein, examining this country’s relations with Czech Republic since 2009. Both countries share a rich history. Their diplomatic relations have deteriorated due to property disputes. The thesis analyses this particular problem and investigates how the relations between these two countries have been affected. At the same time, this thesis indicates how both of these sides are trying to solve this issue and develop further cooperation. Implications of this situation are fairly unknown to broader audience and the aim of this thesis is to get the general public more acquainted with the aforementioned issue. The thesis is designed according to the theory of foreign policy analysis, the content of which is to be an analysis of three important elements of foreign policy. These elements are foreign policy actors, the issues they are concerned with and their interests.
