The comparison of the German schoolbooks used at the Czech highschools

Abstract:

This master's thesis deals with criteria for comparing textbooks for the teaching of German as a foreign language. The aim of this thesis is to create criteria that will enable teachers to compare the textbooks taking the target group into account. The criteria will be established upon technical literature and completed based upon students' and teachers' viewpoints. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with basic terminology related to the topic, history of textbook research in the Czech Republic and German-speaking countries and the view on textbook in today's times. Furthermore, technical literature is discussed that will be used in the second part of this master's thesis. In the practical part, the criteria for evaluating textbooks will be established based upon technical literature, which will subsequently be completed by criteria taken from the students' and teachers' point of view. The students' as teachers' opinions were obtained in a questionnaire survey and interviews carried out in two high schools in Prague, Arabská High School and Nad Štolou High School. The resulting criteria will provide the teachers an instrument for evaluating textbooks for teaching German as a foreign language in order to select an appropriate one for the target group.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kritérii pro porovnání učebnic němčiny. Cílem práce je navrhnout kritéria, díky kterým bude moci učitel porovnat učebnice s ohledem na jeho cílovou skupinu adresátů. Kritéria pro porovnání učebnic budou sestavena na základě odborné literatury a doplněná o pohled studentů a učitelů. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části je vysvětlena základní terminologie vztahující se k tématu, historie výzkumu učebnic v Čechách a německy mluvících zemí, pohled na učebnice v dnešní době a také je zde uvedena odborná literatura, která bude nadále využita v další části práce. V praktické části jsou sestavena kritéria pro hodnocení učebnic na základě odborné literatury a následně doplněna o kritéria z pohledu studentů a učitelů na základě dotazníkového šetření a rozhovoru provedeného na pražských gymnáziích Arabská a Nad Štolou. Výsledná kritéria budou sloužit jako pomůcka pro učitele při výběru učebnice německého jazyka.
