The Velvet Revolution in sociological interpretations

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na srovnání dvou sociologických interpretací Sametové revoluce. První interpretací je kniha Iva Možného Proč tak snadno, druhou kniha Ladislava Holého Malý český člověk a skvělý český národ. Popis revoluce, která vedla k demokratizaci společnosti, je u obou autorů ovlivněn odlišným nazíráním na revoluci. Toto rozdílné pojetí má posléze za následek, že každý z autorů vymezuje revoluci jako boj za nové hodnotové priority, které se u každého z autorů odlišují. Předložené srovnání je postaveno na základě teorie revoluce Alexise de Tocquevilla, kterou jako metodu pro analýzu sametové revoluce vypracoval profesor Miloš Havelka. Pokud tedy přijmeme toto paradigma, docházíme k závěrům, že podle interpretace Holého je sametová revoluce projevem nepolitické politiky. Politická sféra je považována za zničenou a tak se politický diskurs utváří ve sféře umění. V práci Iva Možného je patrný pragmatický náhled na sametovou revoluci. Tato revoluce je tedy důsledkem nespokojenosti všech obyvatel, neboť jsou ohroženy jejich elementární potřeby. V práci je také zmíněna paralela mezi Velkou Francouzskou revolucí, tak jak ji interpretoval Alexis de Tocqueville a příčinami Sametové revoluce u obou autorů.

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis focuses on the comparison of two sociological interpretations of the Velvet Revolution. The first interpretation in question is a book of Ivo Možný “Why so easy” and the second one is a book of Ladislav Holý “The Little Czech and the Great Czech Nation”. The description of the revolution, which led to the democratization of the society, is in both cases influenced by the perception of culture by its authors. Description of the revolution that led to the democratization of society is influenced by two different authors acknowledging of the revolution. This difference in approach has ultimately resulted in that each author defines revolution as a struggle for a new priority value that each of the authors differ . Made the comparison is based on the theory of revolution Alexis de Tocqueville , who as a method for the analysis of the Velvet Revolution, prepared by Professor Miloš Havelka . If we accept this paradigm , we can conclude that in the interpretation of the Holy velvet revolution manifestation of anti-politics . The political sphere is considered destroyed and thus shapes the political discourse in the realm of art. The work Iva Možný is evident pragmatic view of the Velvet Revolution. This revolution is thus the result of dissatisfaction of the population , are at risk because of their elementary needs . Also, this work mentions a paralel between the French Revolution, as depicted by Alexis de Tocqueville, and both author’s reasons for the Velvet revolution.
