Proportionality of Mixed Member Proportional Systems. An Analysis of Elections in German Federal States of Bavaria, Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate

Abstract:

Personalized proportional systems and the degree of proportionality of their outputs are the subject of submitted thesis. Bavarian, Saxonian and Rhineland-Palatinates Landtag elections are analyzed, while in each Länder we analyze only the last three electoral processes. The index of deformation of representation of political parties is used to determine the extent of proportionality, what provides the information about, which political parties are overly presented by system, which are insufficiently presented and to which the system is neutral from the perspective of proportionality.

Abstract:

Predmetom predkladanej bakalárskej práce sú personalizované pomerné systémy a miera proporcionality ich výstupov. Analyzované sú voľby do zemských snemov v spolkových krajinách Bavorsko, Sasko a Porýnie-Falcko, pričom v každej krajine analyzujeme posledné tri volebné procesy. K určeniu miery proporcionality je využívaný index deformácie zastúpenia politických strán, ktorý nám poskytne informácie o tom, ktoré politické strany sú systémom nadreprezentované, ktoré podreprezentované, a ku ktorým je systém z pohľadu pomernosti výstupov neutrálny.
