Care of newborns and infants with non-standard development from the point of view of an occupational therapist

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na péči o novorozence a kojence s nestandard-ním vývojem z pohledu ergoterapeuta. Cílem této práce je zjistit subjektivní pohled ergo-terapeutů na jejich zapojení do terapeutického procesu u dětí s asymetriemi a zda mohou u těchto dětí ovlivnit jejich následný vývoj. V teoretické části práce jsou definovány zá-kladní pojmy týkající se vývoje dítěte, zejména v raných fázích života, a vysvětlen vý-znam standardního vývojového procesu. Dále je rozebráno, co naopak znamená "nestan-dardní vývoj", jaké faktory jej mohou ovlivnit a jak se mohou projevovat různé vývojové odchylky. V prak-tické části jsou rozebrány metody, názory a poznatky od ergoterapeutů napříč ČR, které využívají při práci s dětmi s nestandardním vývojem. Pomocí dotazníku je zjištěno, kdy nejčastěji se ergoterapeut zapojuje do rehabili-tace těchto dětí, jaká je spolupráce rodičů v rámci terapie a jaké pomůcky mohou napo-moci kvalitnímu psychomotorickému vývoji.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the care of newborns and infants with non-standard development from the perspective of an occupational therapist. The aim of this work is to find out the subjective view of occupational therapists on their involvement in the therapeutic process for children with asymmetries and whether they can influence the subsequent development of these children. Theoretical part of the thesis defines basic concepts related to child development, especially in the early stages of life, and explains the meaning of a normal developmental process. It also discusses what "non-standard de-velopment" means, what factors can influence this development and how various developmental abnormalities can manifest themselves. Practical part of the thesis analyzes methods, opinions and knowledge from occupational therapists across the Czech Republic that they use when working with children with non-standard development. Using a questionnaire, it was found out when the occupational therapist is most of-ten involved in the rehabilitation of these children, what is the cooperation of parents within the therapy and what tools can help with quality psychomotor development.
