Abstract:

Táto práca je zameraná na komparatívnu analýzu dvoch memoárov, menovite Somebody’s Daughter: A Memoir (2021) od Ashley C. Ford a Finding Me (2022) od Violy Davis. Oba memoáre sa zaoberajú predovšetkým skúsenosťami z detstva autoriek, ktoré sa týkajú ich rodinných vzťahov, sociálno-ekonomickej situácie, domáceho a sexuálneho násilia, vzdelávania a rasovej nerovnosti v Spojených štátoch amerických. Cieľom tejto práce je analyzovať a porovnať tieto dva memoáre z hľadiska ich primárnych tém a na základe odborného výskumu v súvislosti s históriou afroamerickej komunity.

Abstract:

The present thesis serves as a comparative analysis of two memoirs, namely Somebody’s Daughter: A Memoir (2021) by Ashley C. Ford and Finding Me (2022) by Viola Davis. Their respective works deal primarily with their childhood experiences concerning their familial relationships, socio-economic situation, domestic and sexual violence, education, and racial inequality in the United States of America. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and compare these two memoirs in terms of their primary themes, and based on a scholarly research, in their connection to the history of African American community.
