Social, Environmental and Economical Aspects of Social Enterprise in Different Perspectives

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá konceptem sociálního podniku a jeho možnou ekonomickou, sociální a environmentální úlohou. Zahrnuje tento fenomén do širšího teoretického i historického kontextu a charakterizuje současné hlavní proudy sociálního podnikání. Na sociální podnikání nahlíží jednak optikou ekonomie hlavního proudu, jednak z perspektivy vybraných směrů heterodoxní ekonomie. Úloha sociálních podniků z pohledu ekonomie hlavního proudu spočívá v korekci některých tržních a vládních selhání. Z tohoto hlediska tkví potenciál sociálních podniků především ve schopnosti přinášet inovativní řešení v oblasti sociálního začleňování znevýhodněných skupin obyvatelstva, ve snižování nezaměstnanosti, v efektivním poskytování některých veřejných statků nebo ve schopnosti kompenzovat negativní externality a vytvářet pozitivní. Z pohledu vybraných heterodoxních ekonomů a dalších autorů, kteří kritizují současnou mainstreamovou ekonomickou teorii a ekonomický systém, mohou být některé sociální podniky důležitou součástí nové alternativní ekonomiky. Takovýto alternativní ekonomický systém by měl zajišťovat společenskou prosperitu v širším než jen materiálním slova smyslu a zároveň reflektovat ekosystémové limity. Mezi základní charakteristiky tohoto systému patří udržitelný nerůst, podpora lokální ekonomiky v maximální prospěšné míře a chápání člověka jako komplexní, společensky ukotvené bytosti, mající jiné než jen ekonomické potřeby. S představou takového ekonomického systému koresponduje koncept eko-sociálního podniku.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the concept of social enterprise and with its possible economical, social and environmental dimensions. It discusses this phenomenon in a wider theoretical and historical framework and describes the main aspects of contemporary social enterprise discourse. It focuses on the concept of social enterprise from the perspectives of the mainstream economics and from the views of selected trends within the heterodox economics. The role of the social enterprise form the view of the mainstream economics lies in the correction of some market and government failures. Thus the potential of social enterprise consists in the ability to bring innovative solutions in the field of social integration of the marginalized social groups, in the reduction of unemployment rate, in the effectiveness in providing some of the public goods or in the ability to compensate the negative externalities and to create the positive ones. The opinion of some heterodox economists and other authors, who criticise the current mainstream economical theory and economy system is, that some social enterprises can be a vital part of the alternative economy. This alternative economy system should guarantee the social prosperity in wider than material sense and simultaneously reflect the ecosystem limits. Among the basic features of this system are considered the sustainable degrowth, local economy support in maximum positive amount, considering man as a complex, socially embedded human being having other than just economical needs. The idea of such economy system corresponds with the concept of eco-social enterprise.
