Spas, thermal healing springs and wellness in tourism in Central Slovakia

Abstract:

This bachelor dissertation is dealing with the analysis of spa tourism in Slovakia and a comparison of two bath resorts in Banská Bystrica Region. The main aim of this thesis is to observe the current state and attendance of two bath resorts in Central Slovakia. Moreover, to find the solution in how the attendance and general awareness can be increased in the thermal baths Sliač and Kováčová. The thesis consists of theoretical, analytical and a proposal part. In the theoretical part, I am dealing with terms such as health tourism, spa tourism, spas, wellness tourism, tourism and natural healing resources. In addition, I am focusing on trends in the tourism itself. In the analytical part, I am concentrating on the analysis of the spa tourism in Slovakia. There is also realized analysis of bathing resorts Sliač and Kováčová and the comparison of their products offer. I am detecting the current situation of above mentioned resorts by performing structured interviews, electronical and telephone conversations. Based on this survey it was possible to valorize state of baths as well as the possibilities for their improvement. In the proposal part I am introducing recommendations, which may uplift the situation in the area of spa tourism in the Central Slovakia along with elevating general awereness of the two particular bathing resorts.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá analýzou kúpeľného cestovného ruchu na Slovensku a porovnaním dvoch kúpeľných miest v banskobystrickom kraji. Hlavným cieľom bakalárskej práce je zistiť súčasný stav a návštevnosť dvoch kúpeľných miest na strednom Slovensku. Nájsť riešenie, ako by kúpele Sliač a Kováčová mohli zvýšiť návštevnosť a svoje povedomie. Práca sa skladá z teoretickej, analytickej a návrhovej časti. V teoretickej časti sa venujem pojmom ako zdravotný cestovný ruch, kúpeľný cestovný ruch, kúpeľníctvo, wellness cestovný ruch a prírodné liečivé zdroje. Zameriavam sa aj na trendy v cestovnom ruchu. V analytickej časti sa zameriavam na analýzu kúpeľného cestovného ruchu na Slovensku. V tejto časti je realizovaná aj analýza kúpeľov Sliač a Kováčová, a ich produktová ponuka a ich porovnanie. Zisťujem súčasnú situáciu dvoch kúpeľných miest pomocou riadených rozhovorov, elektronického a telefonického dotazovania. Na základe tejto analýzy bolo možné zhodnotiť stav kúpeľov a možnosti zlepšenia. V návrhovej časti predkladám odporúčania, ktoré by mohli zlepšiť situáciu v oblasti kúpeľného cestovného ruchu na strednom Slovensku a, ako zvýšiť povedomie o týchto dvoch kúpeľných miestach.
