Fashion Collection Inspired by the Tradition of Slovak Faience

Abstract:

Vo svojej bakalárskej práci sa zaoberám tradíciou fajansy na území Slovenska, s dôrazom na západoslovenskú oblasť. V habánskej a modranskej keramike hľadám odkaz remeselnej tradície, vlastných kultúrnych hodnôt a identity. V teoretickej časti ďalej definujem symbo-liku habánskej farebnosti, význam ručne maľovaných motívov. Tieto typické prvky a tvar abstraktným spôsobom prenášam do súčasného dámskeho odevu, ktorý hľadá vzájomný vzťah dvoch protipólov - tradície a súčasnosti. Cieľom práce je zvýšiť povedomie čitateľa o hodnote remesla ako takom, zároveň v ňom vzbudiť spontánny záujem o vlastné korene.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis assignment I am going to look at the faience tradition in the Slovak Republic with a focus on the western part of the country. I am studying the legacy of the trade traditions, their own cultural values and identity in the ceramics of the Habany and Modra regions. In the theory part of my work I continue to define the symbolism of the Habany colours as well as the importance of the hand painted motifs. In an abstract way I am transferring these traditional elements and shapes into contemporary ladies clothing design, which is connecting the old with the new; the traditional with the present. The pur-pose of my assignment is to make the reader be aware of the importance of the trades as they were and to stimulate a spontaneous interest in his/her own roots.
