Monitoring the levels of ethyleglycol during suspected intoxication by antifreeze liquid

Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce obecně seznamuje s vlastnostmi ethylenglykolu jako xenobiotika a podává informace o monitoringu intoxikací ethylenglykolem za dobu deseti let. Obecná část představuje seznámení s teorií týkající se ethylenglykolu jako původně netoxického agens, jeho biotransformaci v lidském organismu a vzniku toxicity. Ukazuje hlavní orgány metabolismu xenobiotika, diferenciální diagnostiku intoxikace a laboratorní známky poškození organismu, terapii, metodiku stanovení hladiny noxy v biologickém materiálu. V praktické části jsou shromážděna data za období deseti let od pacientů s podezřením na intoxikaci ethylenglykolem a výpovědní hodnota znázorněna formou tabulek a grafů.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis introduces the properties of ethylenglykol as a xenobiotic to the reader and provides information on monitoring the ethylenglycol during the time span of the last 10 years. Theoretical part of this thesis deals with ethylenglycol as originally a non-toxic agent, it's biotransformation in a human organism and generation of toxicity. It also shows the main organs of this xenobiotic, deferential diagnosis of the intoxication, laboratory signs of damage to an organism, therapy and methods of determining the levels of nox in the biologic material. The practical part contains gathered data from patients with suspected ethylenglycol intoxication and explanatory value of the data typified by various tables and graphs.
