Language teacher as a co-creator of the classroom social climate

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se blíže zabývá klimatem tříd ve vzdělávání dospělých. Práce má teoreticko-empirický charakter. Teoretická část definuje celoživotní vzdělávání a představuje hlavní činitele ovlivňující klima třídy. Jednotlivé kapitoly poskytují podrobné informacemi týkající se lektorů (typy, role, činnosti, kompetence) a základní informace týkající se dospělých účastníků. Teoretická část se dále zaměřuje na oblast sociálního klimatu třídy, vymezuje faktory ovlivňující klima tříd a také se zabývá prevencí výskytu negativního klimatu. Empirická část se věnuje vyhodnocení dat získaných v dotaznících a polostrukturovaných rozhovorech, ve kterých se lektoři anglického jazyka vyjadřují k negativním faktorům ovlivňujícím klima třídy, dále reflektují své zkušenosti a uvádí, jakými způsoby podporují pozitivní klima třídy. Doplňujícím zdrojem je vyhodnocení zúčastněného pozorování v jazykové škole. Závěrem této práce je shrnutí jednotlivých zjištění, ze kterých byla formulována doporučení pro lektory na podporu pozitivního klimatu tříd v jazykovém vzdělávání dospělých.

Abstract:

This Bachelor’s thesis deals with the topic of the social classroom climate in adult education. The thesis is divided into two parts : theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the basic terminology and represents brief description of lifelong learnig. It also identifies the areas, which are related with climate. It gives detailed information about the language teachers (types, roles, activities, competences) and information related to students. The main attention is paid to the area of classroom climate and also to factors that affect the classroom climate. The theoretical part provides some useful advice how to deal with the negative climate. Second part is mostly dedicated to practical research among English language teachers. It evaluates obtained data from questionnaires and semi-sctructured interviews. In addition to this is the observation in one of the language classes, which allowed me to study the classroom climate during the year. Results and the final summary can be used as an inspirational tool for language teachers in adult language learning.
