Streams as movement corridors for terrestrial vertebrates

Abstract:

V této práci shrnuji poznatky o krajinné struktuře, krajinných prvcích a jejich vlivu na přesuny terestrických obratlovců a o prostorových pohybech terestrických obratlovců ve vztahu k přesunům. Vlastní studie má za cíl zjistit, zda zvěř začne koryta vysychavých toků využívat jako migrační koridory více v porovnání s obdobím, kdy je v korytech voda. Bylo monitorováno devět lokalit a byl získán materiál z dalších dvou lokalit z předchozích let. Vlastní lokality byly umístěny v okolí Brna u vodních toků. Lokality tvořily trojice s rozdělením na vysychavou lokalitu, nevysychavou lokalitu a referenční nevysychavou lokalitu. Vliv vysychajících toků na přesuny terestrických obratlovců nebyl shledán jako signifikantní. Na vysychavých lokalitách byla zjištěna vyšší relativní aktivita v podélném směru a v korytu v porovnání s nevysychavými lokalitami. Je nutno zohlednit nepředvídatelnost vysychání v současném klimatickém období. Výsledky této práce mohou umožnit dále rozšířit studium sledované oblasti.

Abstract:

In this thesis I summarize knowledge about landscape structure, landscape elements and their influence on the movement of terrestrial vertebrates and about spatial movements of terrestrial vertebrates in relation to movements. The study itself aims to find out if animals will use drying streams more than in the flooded season. Nine sites were monitored and material from other two sites from previous years was obtained. Own sites were located close to Brno on the watercourses. The sites consisted of triplets with a distribution in a drying site, a non-drying site and a referential non-drying site. The influence of drying streams on the movement of terrestrial vertebrates was not found to be significant. Higher relative activity in the longitudinal direction and in the riverbed relative to non-drying sites was found on the drying sites. I tis necessary to take into account the unpredictability of drying out in the current climate. The results of this work should enable further study of the studied area.
