The Expectations of Highly-qualified Immigrants in Relation to Their Work in the Czech republic

Abstract:

The thesis aims to find out what are the expectations of highly-qualified immigrants and how they perceive the saturation of their expectations in relation to the work in the Czech republic. I focused the research on the expectations related to immigrants’ life and work which they had before comming to the Czech republic, the confrontation with reality and the impact on the their work in our country. For my research I selected qualitative method of semi-structured interview specifially constructed for this study. I have interviewed eleven young highly-qualified immigrants from India and european countries who came to the Czech republic with agreed working conditions and who work here as IT specialists. In the theoretical part of the study I defined the concept of expectation, life situation and the part is related to the definition of highly-qualified migrants and the specialities of the high-skilled migration. The study describes and analyzes interesting findings related to the migration motives of this migrant group, expectations about the work in the Czech republic, the aims and expectations confronted with reality of life in our country and the impact on future plans conserning their possible settlement in the Czech republic. The results of the thesis can help to reduce the barriers created in the administration of czech immigration and integration law which have impact on lives of foreigners in our country.
