Syndrom náhlého úmrtí kojence (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, SIDS) je definován jako náhlé úmrtí kojence nevysvětlitelné anamnestickými údaji, prohledáním místa úmrtí ani pitevním nálezem. Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is defined as a sudden unexpected death of an infant that can be explained neither by medical history, investigation of the scene of death nor by autopsy findings. It represents the most common cause of post-neonatal mortality in developed countries.
