Parents´ Attitude to the Influence of Media on the Behavior of Children

Abstract:

Vliv médií je předmětem zájmu sociálních vědců od dvacátých let minulého století, na otázku, jaké mají média účinky však stále neexistuje jednoznačná odpověď. Předkládaná práce se pokouší shrnout dosavadní vědění o této problematice, přičemž se zaměřuje zejména na vlivy médií na děti. Pozornost je nejprve věnována obecněji vlivům médií na společnost, poukazováno je na nedostatky při výběru a zpracování informací, možnost vyvolání paniky pomocí médií, pravdivost informací a mediální dezinformace. Následuje část týkající se vlivů médií na děti, zabývající se zejména možnými negativními vlivy médií na ně, problematikou zobrazování reality a fikce a s tím související možnost posunu emočního vnímání u dětí a problém nápodoby mediálního násilí. V této souvislosti je zmíněna role televize, internetu a počítačových her v životě dnešních dětí. Zdůrazňována je zejména důležitost funkce rodiny v eliminaci možných negativních vlivů médií na děti a její role v tzv. mediální výchově dětí. Celá práce je proložena výsledky provedeného dotazníkového šetření mezi rodiči, které doplňují práci o empirická data, ta jsou v poslední části práce uvedena spolu se všemi náležitostmi empirického šetření.

Abstract:

The influence of media has been the subject of the interest of social scientists since the 1920?s but there is still not any definite answer to the question, what are the effects of media. The presented essay tries to compile the hitherto knowledge about this questions and focuses mainly on the influence of media over children. First, it focuses more general on the influence of media over society, points out on shortages at the choice and processing of information, the possibility of raising panic through media, the truth of information and medial disinformation. Another part regards the influence of media over children, deals mainly with the possible negative influences over them, the questions of the display of reality and fiction, which is connected with the possible deviation of emotion perception at children and the problem of the imitation of media violence. The role of television, the Internet and computer games is mentioned in this connection. The essay puts mainly an emphasis on the importance of family in the elimination of the possible negative influences of media over children and its role in so called media education of children. All the essay is inset by the results of a questionnaire survey among patente, which complement the essay by empirical data. The data is included in the last part of the essay together with all the terms of the empirical survey.
