Activities of grandparents with grandchildren and their parental support in a multigenerational family

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na společné aktivity prarodičů s vnoučaty ve vícegenerační rodině, která žije ve společné domácnosti. Zabývá se také rodičovskou podporou a tím, jak rodiče aktivity prarodičů s vnoučaty oceňují a hodnotí. Teoretická část je rozčleněna do kapitol o vícegenerační rodině, funkcích rodiny vzhledem k dítěti, generacích v rodině a výchově v rodině. V empirické části je nejdříve představena metodologie výzkumu a poté následuje interpretace výsledků práce. Jsou prezentována zjištění z kvalitativního výzkumu, při kterém byly prováděny individuální rozhovory se zástupci prarodičovské a rodičovské generace ve třech vícegeneračních rodinách. Výzkum přináší výsledky, jež popisují aktivity nejmladší a nejstarší generace vícegeneračních rodin, ukazují způsob, jakým rodiče přispívají k jejich vykonávání. Dále poukazují na pozitivní hodnocení ze strany rodičů a přibližují, jak rodičovská generace oceňuje prarodičovskou generaci za její pomoc a péči o vnoučata.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the joint activities of grandparents and grandchildren in a multigenerational family that lives in the same household. It also deals with parental support and how parents value and evaluate grandparents' activities with grandchildren. The theoretical part is divided into chapters on the multigenerational family, functions of the family in relation to the child, generations in the family and education in the family. In the empirical part, the research methodology is presented first, followed by the interpretation of the results of the work. Findings from qualitative research are presented, during which individual interviews were conducted with representatives of the grandparental and parental generations in three multigenerational families. The research brings results that describe the activities of the youngest and oldest generations of multigenerational families, and show the way in which parents contribute to their performance. They also point to a positive assessment by parents and describe how the parental generation appreciates the grandparent generation for its help and care for their grandchildren.
