How do women on maternity leave perceive their current situation and their future return to work.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou mateřské či rodičovské dovolené v České republice a cílem práce je zjistit, jak matky na mateřské či rodičovské dovolené vnímají svou situaci a vlastní návrat do zaměstnání. Bakalářskou práci jsem rozdělila na dvě části, a to na teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části se věnuji mateřství na teoretické a historické rovině, pojmům jako je rodina či rodičovství, historickému vývoji mateřské/rodičovské dovolené v České republice, vývoji legislativy, který souvisí s délkou rodičovské dovolené a rodičovským příspěvkem. Nastínila jsem také porovnání délky rodičovské dovolené ve státech EU. Praktická část je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu, kdy jsem provedla pět polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s matkami s vysokoškolským vzděláním, které jsou nyní na mateřské/rodičovské dovolené.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's thesis is focusing on problematics of maternity/parental leave in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the thesis is to find out how mothers on maternity leave perceive their situation and future return to work. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part is focusing on a broad range of aspects relating to the main objective of this work. It clarifies theoretically what does motherhood mean and how it has been perceived over time, notions such as family and parenthood are also introduced as well as the historical development of maternity/parental leave in the Czech Republic. A special part of the theoretical section is also focusing on the historical development of laws that are framing maternity/parental leave and how these laws are affecting the lenght of maternity/parental leave and the monetary contributions to the parents. This section also includes a comparison of materinity leave in the Czech Republic to other EU-countries. The practical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research, I have conducted five semi-structured interviews with mothers who hold an university degree and are currently on maternity/parental leave.
