Security Dimension Mutual Relations between the Czech Rep. and USA in Second Term of the George W. Bush's Administration

Abstract:

The thesis analyses the security dimension between Czech Republic and USA during the second administration of George W. Bush. It will emphasise on the Project of Ballistic Missile Defence and try to point out basic aspects and also the specifics of the CR-USA relationship. Attitudes of the Czech Republic will be placed to the broader space of EU, underlying conflict between „europaism“ and „atlanticism“ in the czech foreign policy. The main goal of the work is to prove, that the Czech republic is aware of using modern (military) means in solving conflict in the worl and that´s why it is a close partner to the president ´s Bush administration.

Abstract:

Práca predkladá analýzu bezpečnostnej dimenzie vzájomných vzťahov ČR a USA, s cielením na obdobie druhej vlády Georga W. Busha. Na pozadí udalostí vojny v Iraku, a hlavne plánovanému systému protiraketovej obrany v Českej republike bude poukázané na základné aspekty i špecifiká vzájomných vzťahov ČR a USA. Postoje a názory ČR budú zasadené do širšieho priestoru EU, kde vzniká v zahraničnej politike ČR základný konflikt medzi „európanstvom“ a proamerickými postojmi. Cieľom autora je dokázať hypotézu, že Česká republika, vedomá si potreby použitia moderných (teda vojenských) postupov pri riešení konfliktov v súčasnom svete, je stabilným podporovateľom prezidenta Georga W. Busha počas obdobia jeho druhej vlády. ČR si je vedomá výhodnosti partnerstva so svetovou mocnosťou preto aktívne spolupracuje na vojenských a bezpečnostných projektoch USA aj mimo NATO.
