Abstract:

In situ interkalativní polymerací byly připraveny vzorky nanokompozitů na bázi epoxidové pryskyřice CHS EPOXY 520 plněné organicky modifikovanými jíly. Práce byla zaměřena zejména na nalezení podmínek přípravy exfoliovaných nanokompozitů a na nalezení vhodných metod studia jejich struktury. Za tímto účelem byly dispergací na různých laboratorních zařízeních připraveny vzorky epoxy-jílových nanokompozitů a na zobrazení jejich struktury byla aplikována řada mikroskopických technik schopných zobrazení stupně dispergace nanoplniva v matrici polymeru. Struktura pozorovaná na mikroskopických snímcích byla korelována s výsledky měření mezilamelární vzdálenosti metodou širokoúhlové difrakce X-paprsků (WAXS). Byl studován vliv jednotlivých fází přípravy nanokompozitů na dosažení exfoliovaného stavu. Bylo zjištěno, že důležitou fázi během přípravy nanokompozitů představuje botnání jílu v epoxidové pryskyřici. Byla tedy připravena řada vzorků lišících se délkou doby botnání jílu v epoxidu a byl sledován vliv doby botnání na výslednou strukturu a vlastnosti nanokompozitů. Dále byla zkoumána hypotéza, že řídícím faktorem přípravy exfoliovaných nanokompozitů je rozdíl v rychlostech vytvrzování epoxidové pryskyřice uvnitř a vně jílových galerií. Za tímto účelem bylo kationtově výměnnou reakcí připraveno několik organojílů, lišících se navzájem druhem a množstvím funkčních skupin v řetězci modifikátoru, jejichž vliv na rychlost vytvrzování epoxidu a tedy strukturu nanokompozitů byl sledován. V závěru práce byl na základě analýzy dosažených výsledků připraven organojíl, který byl modifikován tak, aby byla v co největší míře podpořena jeho exfoliace v epoxidové pryskyřici. Dispergací tohoto organojílu v epoxidové matrici byly připraveny vzorky nanokompozitů o různém obsahu organojílu a byl studován vliv koncentrace organojílu na (dynamicko)mechanické vlastnosti a strukturu těchto materiálů.

Abstract:

Via in situ intercalative polymerization, samples of nanocomposites based on epoxy resin CHS EPOXY 520 filled with organically modified layered silicate clays were prepared. The aim of this work was to find the conditions for preparation of exfoliated nanocomposites and to apply suitable methods for the determination of its structure. For this purpose, samples of epoxy-clay nanocomposites were prepared using various dispersion devices and wide range of various microscopy techniques able to visualize the degree of nanolayer dispersion in the polymer matrix were applied. Observed structures were correlated with the calculated values of the interlamellar spacing obtained by the WAXS measurements. Further, the effect of individual steps during preparation of nanocomposites on the exfoliation was studied. It was found that very important step during nanocomposite preparation is swelling of the clay in the epoxy matrix. Hence, samples of nanocomposites differing in the time of swelling of the clay in the epoxide were prepared and the effect of swelling time on the resulting structure and properties of nanocomposites was studied. The hypothesis, that the crucial factor in the preparation of exfoliated nanocomposites is the difference between curing rates inside and outside clay gallery was also investigated. For this purpose, samples of various organoclays differing in the type and amount of functional groups of the clay surface modifier were synthesised via cation exchange reaction and its influence on the curing rate of epoxy polymerization was monitored. Finally, on the basis of achieved results, an organoclay modified in such way that its exfoliation in the epoxy resin should be greatly promoted was synthesised. By dispersion of this organoclay in the epoxy matrix, samples of nanocomposites with various organoclay loadings were prepared and the effect of organoclay concentration on the (dynamic)mechanical properties and structure of these materials was studied.
